Hepatocellular carcinoma histopathology

Description of this Picture

Histopatholgical image of hepatocellular carcinoma in a patient with liver cirrhosis by chronic hepatitis C infection (Case 01). Hematoxylin and eosin stain.

This case is characterized by solid-sheet appearance with indistinct cell borders and poorly developed  sinusoid structure. Each cell has eosinophilic cytoplasm, their nuclear morphology being greatly variable. Brownish droplets represent the ability of neoplastic hepatocytes to produce bile in excess.
